Wisconsin Woes

I have a weird affinity for animal sweaters, but living in Wisconsin, it is difficult to wear anything with a badger on it without everyone thinking I'm making a statement about my sports preferences.  And then commenting on it.  Truth is, I just like the badger.  It's weird and awesome.  I don't, however, like being mistaken for some sort of super-fan.  When I saw these sweaters with collars, I had an idea that would transform the sweater I have had for some time.
Adding a collar to it makes it far to cutesy to be associated with any sports team. Precisely my goal.  I love when layering two things that you already own creates something with a completely different feel. By the way, that gal up there is my new dress form. (Name TBA)
I had a surprise morning off, so Alex and I went on a little Sun-date.  Coffee and Crepes.  Or creepies, as I like to call them.
It was my goal to take some pictures of recent projects today, but again, this is Wisconsin.  The windchill is something like -10. I was born in this weather, I can endure, but I think I'll wait a couple days when it feels more like 3 degrees.

Stay warm, Wisconsin brethren! If you live somewhere warm, shhh.

Lady Crush: Nancy Sinatra

"It's a hectic, crazy life. You're not like a shoe salesman, who can get rid of his wares. You're stuck with a product - yourself."
-Nancy Sinatra

I can't imagine what her life was like growing up with Frank Sinatra.  In addition to her mother, Nancy Barbato, her stepmothers included: Ava Gardner, Mia Farrow, and Barbara Marx.  Just knowing one of those people would be crazy, but having all of them in your life is insane!

It's interesting to see how she transformed to fit the sex icon image that was given to her.  The short skirts, blonde hair, and classic go-go boots made her into a style icon.  Women all around began dressing like her.

She was never taken seriously as an artist.  She once said that she was never allowed to grow because her albums were more to look at than to listen to.  I feel as though she is so misunderstood, and I love her all the same.

Isn't this music video spectacular? (These Boots Are Made for Walkin'-Nancy Sinatra)

Making your wardrobe work for you.

I have some pretty crazy clothes, with some ridiculous graphics.  Fruit, hedgehogs, sailboats, dogs, dinosaurs.  But I do have a job that requires me to dress semi-professionally, so sometimes my puppy vest has to be traded in for something a little more understated.  But my favorite part of simple business pieces is that they are so versatile.  Take this very simple navy dress. I got it for 4 dollars at a thrift store, and it fit perfectly.

But I can take this dress, and wear it in the following four different ways.

Dress: Thrifted. Cardigan: Target. Blue Shirt: Anthropologie. White Shirt: American Eagle.  Sweater: Thrifted. Shoes: Urban Outfitters

It's the perfect way to trick the people you work with into thinking you have tons of clothes, when really you are simply resourceful.  The multiple ways I can wear them make these dresses some of my favorites.
What are your favorite things to wear?
Do you have any secrets to trick people into thinking you have more clothes than you really do?
